The device is precision CNC manufactured from selected tool steel.
This fixture has many advantages over existing collet blocks.
These allow simpler and more efficient set-ups to machine or grind collet-held work pieces.
Shapes can be produced accurately and repeatably with one, two, three, four, six and twelve sides.
The blocks can be used vertically or horizontally for both setting up and machining. There are no protrusions on the rear face and all workpiece clamping and replacing operations are done at the collet end. The internal through hole allows for long work to be held up to 30mm diameter with suitable collets.
The 12-sided body is slightly larger across flats to allow direct holding on magnetic chucks (with suitable blocking in, of course) for grinding.
The blocks can also be held in vices - always resting on flats and being clamped on flats for all directly indexable shapes."
